Policies

Our primary role is the rescue and rehabilitation of seals and otters, always releasing them back into the wild where they belong.

We treat each creature as an individual with its own needs and temperament, paying close attention to their development before and, when possible, after their release from our care.

We aim to deepen people’s appreciation of the natural environment upon which we all depend, to help us all to live more harmoniously alongside our animal relations.

We work closely with our local community, our growing community of supporters and volunteers and the wider community with whom we share information and knowledge about wildlife and nature.

Our Ethos

Caring for Shetland’s marine environment and all the creatures that depend upon it lies at the heart of all our work.
We believe the best way to achieve this is to deepen people’s connection to nature by setting an example and through education
